Climbing Mt. Adams

So Tyson has been saying he wants to climb a mountain with me for a long time now I would just keep laughing at him saying yeah right I can't or won't do that, well he guilt tripped me into doing it with him by claiming this is his way of celebrating him finishing his first section of going back to college to get a degree in Business Management. Don't most people usually celebrate with an awesome dinner out, well not my husband!

We left home on Friday Aug. 9th around 2 in the afternoon stopped it Tri-Cities at an outdoor store to get clamp-ons because yes we are going to have to climb on snow up a steepish Mountain this still does not sound good to me. We got to the base of the Mountain in a town called Trout lake and found the ranger station in a storm realized we didn't have the cash to pay for the volcano passes to climb and ended up searching for a gas station that was no where to be found then we realized we could write a check DUH! LOL!

After that got all figured out we made the LONG drive up the Mountain to the parking area you start the climb from it was dark pouring rain, we got there got ready for bed and slept in the back of the Durango yeah uncomfortable before a long hike we were going to do the very next morning! We woke up at 7am luckily the rain had stopped and it looked like we were going to get lucky and not have to climb in the rain, Yeah for me! Or in my mother's words The Lord Loves Me!!!

We almost made it to the top of pikers peak 10,800FT! And then I got altitude sickness and we had to glissade back down In a hurry I might add since I was on the verge of throwing up! Got I would think almost half way down when my knee finally gave out on me, for those who don't know I have been dealing with unstable knee caps since the end of May. But after a little rest I was able to put pressure on it again and slowly painfully make it the rest of the way down the Mountain, we ended up getting back to our car at 7pm. It was in comparison to 395 flights of stairs. And I did 37,865 steps for a 12hr hike. I'd say I killed my first hike ever!!! Here are some pictures of our climb and the sights we saw! Here are some pictures of our climb and the sights we saw! I hope you enjoy them!!
